Why Buy Ethereum(ETH)?

What is Ethereum? The Platform for Smart Contracts and Decentralized Applications
Ethereum (ETH), founded by Vitalik Buterin in 2015, is the world's first public blockchain supporting smart contracts. Ethereum enables developers to build decentralized applications (dApps), DeFi protocols, NFTs, and more, driving explosive growth in the Web3 ecosystem. Ether (ETH) is the native token of the Ethereum network.
How Does Ethereum Work? EVM, Gas Fees, and Consensus
Ethereum relies on distributed nodes, with every transaction requiring ETH as a "gas fee." Smart contracts automatically execute conditional agreements, widely used in finance, gaming, supply chains, and more. Initially using PoW, Ethereum completed "The Merge" upgrade in 2022, transitioning fully to Proof of Stake (PoS), reducing energy consumption by over 99% and enhancing sustainability and security.
Supply Mechanism and EIP-1559
Ethereum has no fixed supply cap, but since EIP-1559, a portion of ETH is burned with each transaction, helping reduce inflationary pressure. ETH is essential for paying gas fees, staking rewards, and governance participation, with demand growing alongside ecosystem expansion.
Ecosystem and Use Cases
Ethereum's ERC-20 and ERC-721 standards fueled the rise of DeFi and NFTs, giving birth to projects like Uniswap, Aave, and OpenSea. The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) provides a flexible programming environment, promoting cross-chain interoperability and Layer 2 scaling solutions (e.g., Rollups, Sharding).
Reasons and Risks for Investing in Ethereum
Web3 and Smart Contract Infrastructure: ETH is the core asset for DeFi, NFT, DAO, and other innovative applications. Technical Upgrades and Ecosystem Growth: PoS transition and EIP-1559 enhance network performance and value capture. High Liquidity and Mainstream Acceptance: ETH is traded globally, second only to Bitcoin in market cap. Risks: Network congestion, high gas fees, competition from emerging blockchains (e.g., Solana, Avalanche), and regulatory uncertainty.
Skeptical Views and Alternative Perspectives
While Ethereum's ecosystem is vast, scalability and fee issues persist. Failure to address these could see it overtaken by newer, high-performance blockchains. Investors should monitor technological progress and ecosystem changes.

$WIF The 1H timeframe has formed a double bottom pattern around 0.183, with RSI(1H) in the oversold zone at 32.37, indicating a technical rebound demand. Although the 4H trend remains downward, the latest 1H candlestick (13:00) showed a volume spike pushing up to 0.1919, suggesting buying interest at the bottom. Currently, the price is declining but open interest remains stable, which is not typical of main force distribution, but more like a shakeout after a short squeeze.

Depth Logic: Market depth shows buy orders (0.184-0.186) are significantly thicker than sell orders (0.1861-0.188), with a depth imbalance of 7.51%, indicating strong support below. The 1H RSI shows early signs of bullish divergence; the price made a new low (0.1832) but RSI did not, suggesting bullish momentum is building. Negative funding rates indicate shorts need to pay fees, and a rebound could trigger a short squeeze.

Today is the last day of February, $BTC ‌ and the monthly close is approaching. Currently, the outlook doesn't look very optimistic. On Friday, both the US stock market and BTC declined simultaneously. As we've been saying these past few days, market sentiment can be driven by earnings reports, but liquidity won't improve because of earnings. Especially with the ongoing trend of institutional fund outflows and overall market selling for four consecutive days, which are all signs of the current market condition. The core narrative remains that of insufficient liquidity; the lack of funds is a key issue. Solving this problem still depends on monetary policy.
Yesterday's PPI data was also disappointing. Although it was lower than the previous value, it exceeded expectations. The month-over-month increase was higher than both the previous figure and forecasts. The annual and monthly core PPI rates are also above previous and expected levels. Inflation that has been declining for two consecutive months may face some challenges this month, which is a concern for investors. Rising PPI likely means PCE will also rise, which is not good news for US monetary policy. Bad PPI data can influence market sentiment over the weekend, and liquidity during the weekend is usually poor, so hopefully, nothing unexpected happens. That's all we can hope for.
But from a long-term perspective, I am not very worried. On one hand, the US tariffs that suppressed the Federal Reserve's rate cuts have already had results. Without the threat of tariffs, the probability of inflation declining increases. On the other hand, as June approaches, Fed Chair Powell remains a very important card for Trump. There is a real chance of continued easing in the second half of 2026 to boost the mid-term elections.
Looking at BTC data, it’s still a day of declining trading volume and turnover rate. There’s nothing much to say about that. Investors’ buying sentiment has already detached from earnings reports. What rises from here just falls back to where it came from. This is a sign of insufficient liquidity. Every upward move may be driven by institutional and hedge fund liquidity withdrawals.
