U.S. Treasury Secretary: Economic and Financial Pressure is 'Suffocating' Iran

On May 4, U.S. Treasury Secretary Becerra stated that the economic and financial pressure imposed by the United States is ‘suffocating’ Iran, suggesting that Tehran will be forced to make concessions. ‘We have been running a marathon for the past 12 months, and now we are sprinting towards the finish line,’ Becerra said in an interview with Fox News on Sunday. ‘Iran cannot pay its soldiers. This is a real economic blockade.’ Becerra noted that as oil storage facilities are rapidly filling up, Iran may start shutting down oil wells in the coming week.
