Anthropic to Form $1.5 Billion Joint Venture with Blackstone and Goldman Sachs

On May 4, the Wall Street Journal reported that sources revealed Anthropic is finalizing an agreement to establish a new joint venture with Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, and several other Wall Street firms, aimed at selling AI tools to private equity-backed companies. Sources indicated that an announcement could be made as early as Monday. They added that Anthropic, Blackstone, and Friedman are the core participants in this deal, each expected to invest around $300 million. Goldman Sachs will also act as a founding investor, contributing approximately $150 million. Pantheon Ventures and other firms are also involved in the transaction. Sources stated that the total committed investment is expected to be around $1.5 billion. The investors aim to create a company that will serve as a consulting arm for Anthropic, helping businesses—including portfolio companies of private equity firms—learn how to integrate AI into their operations.
