The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Trump has the right to immunity from criminal prosecution during his term
On July 2, the Supreme Court ruled that former President Donald J. Trump has the right to broad criminal immunity for actions taken during his tenure. Trump will seek to overturn the conviction for the New York "hush money" after the immunity ruling. Previously, American adult film actress Daniels said that she and Trump have had an affair since 2006, and Trump strongly denied having an extramarital affair with Daniels. Fearing for his family's safety, Daniels accepted a "hush money" from Trump's personal lawyer. Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, has also confirmed that he privately paid Daniels $130,000. However, Daniels pointed out that she signed the so-called "hush money" document with Trump's lawyer Cohen shortly before the election, but Trump did not sign it, so legally it is invalid.
