Ministry of Foreign Affairs: China opposes the U.S. using the so-called "overcapacity" as an excuse for political manipulation

The U.S. recently announced plans to initiate trade investigations against 16 trading partners, including China. During a routine press conference on the 12th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that China’s position on China-U.S. economic and trade issues is consistent and clear. China opposes all forms of unilateral tariffs. The trade and tariff wars are not in anyone’s interest. Both sides should resolve related issues through negotiations based on equality, respect, and mutual benefit. The so-called “overcapacity” is a false proposition, and China opposes using it as a pretext for political manipulation.
