Since EigenLayer announced the EIGEN token, the community has accumulated many related questions. We have selected the most frequently asked questions and provided answers below: 👇
What is Intersubjectivity attributable faults? (Errors that can be traced back to the consensus between subjects [usually between people])?
These errors can be identified by the extensive consensus of external observers, even outside the blockchain, to determine their occurrences.
Unlike objectively traceable errors, consensus-traceable errors between parties may not be provable mathematically and cryptographically on-chain.
For example, can data in the data availability layer be accessed at a specific point in time? This can be observed outside the chain through data availability sampling, but the unavailability of data cannot be proven in smart contracts.
How does EIGEN staking complement ETH restaking?
Many AVS (Active Verification Service) protocols ensure their security through the mechanism of objective forfeiture (slashing); and the liveness and anti-censorship of the service, which used to rely on the assumption that ‘staking is decentralized’, can now be ensured through staking EIGEN.
By staking ETH again to ensure security and staking EIGEN to ensure activity, the service can allocate fees between two consensus groups to optimize resource allocation.
In the core Ethereum ecosystem service, dual pledging of ETH and EIGEN can enhance security. Re-staking ETH can promote decentralization and resist collusion, ensuring the majority trust of Ethereum participants, while staking EIGEN ensures the security of the encrypted economy through token forks.
EigenLayer enables AVS to integrate two modes:
Objective stake from ETH and consensus stake between subjects from EIGEN.
In addition, AVS can also use its native Token to enhance verification through the support of the AVS Token staker community, which achieves consensus.
How does EIGEN staking accelerate innovation in AVS with objective traceability errors?
Staking EIGEN enables AVS to operate effectively without introducing infeasible fraud proof complexity to on-chain consensus slashing, bringing cryptographic economic security. This approach enhances security while reducing technical complexity.
**How does EIGEN stake provide security throughout the entire lifecycle of the new objective AVS?
Staking EIGEN can provide crucial security in the early stages, allowing MVP to be deployed faster. As the system matures and errors become more objectively identifiable, AVS can transition to staking ETH again.
Which AVS can use the security brought by staking EIGEN tokens?
Anti-censorship: Ensure that the propagated transactions are recorded in the ledger. Detection of censorship off-chain will result in slashing.
Ledger rise: Maintain the continuous addition of transactions. Stop executing off-chain faults that are considered to cause slashing.
Data Availability: Ensure that data in the entire network is accessible, and off-chain fraud detection allows for slashing of non-compliant providers.
Oracle Machine: Provides reliable real-world data, and discrepancies detected off-chain will result in punishment for malicious nodes.
Application Case
These basic modules can be combined into more complex modules, and then used for various AVS. For example:
NewChain: Building a new blockchain network with customizable security and functionality.
Prediction Market: Use consensus stake between entities to develop a decentralized prediction market to obtain reliable oracle machine.
AI System: Ensures the effectiveness and security of AI training, benchmark testing, and inference through consensus stake among entities.
Intent and MEV: Manage transaction ordering and prevent malicious MEV activities through innovative order matching engine.
…
Please note that although EIGEN is currently stakeable, the above features will be enabled after the token is transferable.
