Vitalik Buterin Wants to Make Ethereum "Absolutely Simple" Like Bitcoin
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin announced on May 3, 2025, a five-year plan to simplify Ethereum's protocol, calling the Bitcoin network "beautifully simple" in his blog post "Simplifying L1," as he aims to make Ethereum more understandable and safer for users holding bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Vitalik Buterin has proposed a simpler consensus system with finality through 3 slots and replacing the Ethereum Virtual Machine with RISC-V to increase efficiency by 100 times, hoping to reflect the simple design of Bitcoin while addressing the increasing complexity of Ethereum.
