According to Wu, Xinhua News Agency reported that the Chinese and American sides held high-level economic and trade talks in Geneva, Switzerland. The Chinese delegation stated at a press conference that both sides had in-depth exchanges on economic and trade issues, reached important consensus, and made substantial progress. Both sides agreed to establish an economic and trade consultation mechanism, clarify the lead representatives, and plan to issue a joint statement on May 12.
