## Progress on Solana smartphone

Solana Mobile, which develops smartphones for the cryptocurrency (virtual currency) Solana (SOL), announced on the 21st that the official shipping start date for the second generation Solana smartphone “Seeker” has been set for August 4, 2025.

It is also explained that as two pillars of a long-term strategy, they will introduce the native token “SKR” that supports the Solana Mobile ecosystem and the decentralized infrastructure “TEEPIN.”

The Seeker has been accepting reservations for some time now, and it is currently possible to purchase it for $500 (approximately 72,000 yen) as a pre-order bonus. In March, it was explained that shipments were scheduled to start around the summer of this year, but this time a specific start date for shipments has been announced.

At Seeker, we have collaborated with Solflare to develop the “Seed Vault Wallet,” which features the ability to send transactions with a double tap, and we are also working on rebuilding the Solana dApp (decentralized application) store to enhance the user experience.

What is a dApp?

Abbreviation for “Decentralized Application.” Refers to applications developed using blockchain, with a significant feature being the absence of a centralized administrator.

In this announcement, it was explained that over 150,000 units have already been reserved.

about SKR

The issuance of the native token SKR was revealed as a supporting entity for the Solana Mobile ecosystem. It has been clarified that in Seeker, each device can issue a “Solana Seeker Genesis Token” which cannot be transferred, but this is a different token.

The press release does not elaborate on the use of SKR, but explains that it will be used to support Solana Mobile’s economy, incentives, and ownership. Emmett Hollyer, General Manager of Solana Mobile, commented:

To build a truly decentralized and self-sustaining mobile ecosystem, incentives are essential. The introduction of incentives will fundamentally change the traditional mobile business model by providing stakeholders on the platform with true ownership.

Instead of becoming passive consumers in a closed area created by someone else, users, developers, and hardware manufacturers will become active leaders in a digital infrastructure owned independently by the community.

About TEEPIN

In addition, Solana Mobile explained that it will promote the decentralization of the ecosystem while expanding the platform to other hardware manufacturers in order to support the development of an open mobile ecosystem.

At the core of this vision is “TEEPIN”, which stands for “Trusted Execution Environment Platform Infrastructure Network”.

TEEPIN has a complex network structure that divides the ecosystem into three layers: “hardware layer”, “platform layer”, and “network layer”, but its purpose is simple. TEEPIN is a mechanism that allows developers, users, and device manufacturers to participate in a secure and trustless mobile ecosystem.

Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, explained TEEPIN as follows.

TEEPIN is the next evolution in mobile devices. It is a framework where trust is verified by cryptographic technology, rather than by a centralized organization.

By leveraging the secure hardware features that already exist in current smartphones and managing on-chain access, we will unlock open innovation, platform ownership, and a decentralized future for mobile devices.

Mr. Yakobenko also explained on X that the goal of Seeker is to create a top-class mobile ecosystem that can compete with Google and Apple.
