The U.S. core PCE for May is expected to remain low, with economists estimating a year-on-year increase to 2.6%.
On June 27, Nick Timiraos, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, stated that economists who map CPI and PPI to PCE expect the core inflation rate in May to remain low for the third consecutive month.
Core PCE Estimate: +0.15% (even lower in May 2024, thus year-on-year growth will rise to 2.6%); Overall Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE): +0.12% (affected by base effect, year-on-year increase to 2.3%).
The US core PCE price index year-on-year for May will be released tonight at 20:30, with many institutions generally expecting a value of +2.6%.
