【Blockchain Rhythms】JPMorgan analysts recently reiterated their outlook on the stablecoin market. They expect the total market capitalization of stablecoins to reach $500 billion to $600 billion by 2028 — well below the previously discussed trillion-dollar level that was a hot topic in the market.

How has the stablecoin market performed this year? Data shows that the market size has grown by approximately $100 billion, with the current total market cap exceeding $300 billion. Among them, USDT leads the growth, increasing its supply by about $48 billion throughout the year; USDC follows closely, with an addition of about $34 billion. These two giants account for the vast majority of stablecoin growth this year.

It is worth noting where the growth momentum of stablecoins comes from. JPMorgan points out that it mainly stems from activities within the crypto ecosystem. Specifically, demand is concentrated in a few scenarios: first, as cash usage; second, as collateral for cryptocurrency trading. Further subdivided, including derivatives trading, DeFi lending protocols, and holdings by crypto-native companies (such as Web3 venture capital funds) with idle funds. In other words, the internal circulation of stablecoins within the ecosystem is the true growth engine.

JPMorgan is starting to throw satellites again, do they really think we can't do math with 500-600 billion? USDT is so strong, but it still relies on Tether to play, and the ecosystem is like this. That's how stablecoins are, locked in trading pairs and can't get out, how can they rise? Just listen, Wall Street loves to sing our downfall. Wait, how do they always manage to predict accurately? It’s a bit scary...

JPMorgan is pouring cold water again... The trillion-dollar dream is shattered USDT and USDC took the majority of the growth, other stablecoins really have no chance Within the crypto ecosystem, it's still just playing within our own circle

JPMorgan's prediction is too conservative. They really take stablecoins seriously. The monopoly position of USDT and USDC seems unlikely to be challenged in the short term. Wait, is the growth momentum entirely dependent on internal circulation? Isn't that just self-satisfaction? Can 500-600 billion really be achieved? I remain skeptical.

JPMorgan's prediction is really conservative; it still doesn't seem to grasp the true potential of stablecoins. USDT and USDC dominate so heavily that new entrants have no chance at all. Honestly, it's just the crypto community entertaining itself; we're still far from going mainstream. Using stablecoins as collateral... how long can this approach last? It feels a bit risky. 5,000 to 6,000 billion? That's heartbreaking; it seems market expectations are about to cool significantly.
