These past two days, I applied for the Industrial Bank's Universal Life Debit Card. It's quite popular, so I thought I’d share the process. It was actually easier than I expected. You can search for “Universal Life” in the app and apply directly. Just fill in your information and wait for the card to be mailed; mine arrived in three days this time. Activation doesn’t require queuing at the counter; go to a branch and find the VTM self-service machine, select “Activate Debit Card,” and follow the steps to complete it. The various additional requests from the lobby manager are actually tasks; if you don’t want to cooperate, you can simply refuse.
I also encountered a few small issues during the process. There’s no “Freelancer” option in the system, which isn’t very friendly to content creators or those temporarily unemployed. In the end, the manager just filled in a random option. The non-counter daily limit is currently 10,000 yuan, and it can only be adjusted after three months. Overall, this card seems to target the general public, with no high thresholds. If you’re interested in trying it out, give it a shot (I didn’t take a picture; found this on Xiaohongshu. If it’s similar to others, please delete).
