2025 Main Chain Divergence Accelerates: Solana Dominates Meme Coins, Ethereum Stable Settlement, Newcomer Zcash Surges Remarkably
【Crypto World】At the start of 2025, the main theme of the crypto market is quite interesting——tokens are generally lukewarm, but underlying public chains are each finding their own way.
Look at Solana and BNB Chain, which have long been very familiar with meme coins. In January, Solana’s DEX trading volume hit a new all-time high, and these two chains have become a paradise for speculators. In contrast, Ethereum has simply given up competing with these newcomers and is focusing on its own settlement engine. Layer 2 networks like Base have handled over 3.3 billion transactions, with mainnet transaction fees dropping to around $0.19, making them incredibly cheap.
Even more interesting is the performance of stablecoins. Their total market cap surged by 45%, which even led to the emergence of “stable chains” like Plasma, specifically optimized for stablecoins, demonstrating the market’s strong desire for stability.
But the most eye-catching are those “small but beautiful” new directions. Privacy coins like Zcash have surged 661% since the beginning of the year, and performance monsters like Monad are also emerging. What does this indicate? The era of solely pursuing speed and throughput is over; the market is now paying for specialized underlying infrastructure. Each chain is finding its own niche, competing not on throughput but on differentiation.
