The Dream of Cross-Chain in Blockchain: Is It the Future of Interconnection or a Deadlock of Fragmentation?
We've all heard the story of the "Tower of Babel"—a group of people wanted to build a sky-high tower, but they all spoke different languages, and eventually the project was abandoned halfway. The current Web3 ecosystem somewhat resembles this scenario.
ETH, BNB, XRP represent different isolated ecosystems. Each has its own advantages, but issues like fragmented liquidity, disjointed user experience, and high cross-chain asset transfer costs are everyday problems. The question is: can we open up these channels to truly enable the flow of assets and data?
On the technical level, cross-chain bridges are iterating, and interoperability protocols are evolving. From this perspective, the Tower of Babel could become the Tower of Heaven in the digital age. But the reality is harsh—dispersed liquidity, security risks, inconsistent standards... any problem in one link could jeopardize the entire ecosystem.
So the key question is: who will be the first to build that high-speed highway connecting all chains? Whoever does will seize the next wave of ecosystem opportunities.
