Currently, financial regulation is becoming increasingly strict. EVM ecosystem applications aiming to enter regulated markets face a major challenge—balancing privacy protection with compliance auditing, two seemingly opposing goals. The Hedger solution launched by Dusk Foundation was created to address this contradiction.
Most tools on the market either focus solely on privacy or solely on compliance, making it difficult to achieve both simultaneously. The highlight of Hedger is its integration of zero-knowledge proofs and homomorphic encryption technologies to build a double-layer protection. How does it work specifically? Zero-knowledge proofs handle the verification of sensitive information such as identity and transaction amounts, allowing the system to confirm validity without revealing data—ensuring information security. Homomorphic encryption takes it a step further by enabling transactions to be computed directly on encrypted data, without decryption from start to finish. This maintains transaction efficiency and completely eliminates the risk of data leakage.
A deeper design aspect aligns with regulatory standards such as the EU’s MiCA and MiFID II, with Hedger developing dedicated regulatory authorization audit interfaces. What does this mean? After obtaining user authorization, regulators can directly access the required transaction data for review. The entire process does not expose user privacy, and the compliance workflow becomes more streamlined and efficient.
Hedger has already released an Alpha version for developers to experience, and integration is very simple. Whether it’s DeFi lending protocols or RWA asset issuance platforms, developers can quickly add compliance and privacy capabilities to Solidity smart contracts, enabling entry into institutional-grade financial markets. This is why some see Hedger as a key hub connecting the EVM ecosystem with compliant finance.
