Fighting "Boosting" Behavior: X Platform Adjusts Revenue Sharing Mechanism to Guide Creators to Focus on Genuine User Traffic
Recently, social media platform X (formerly Twitter) adjusted its creator revenue sharing mechanism to address illegal activities such as exploiting system vulnerabilities to post spam and profit systematically.
Platform product leader Nikita Bier pointed out that about half of the spam replies on the platform previously originated from organized manipulation of interactions in external Telegram groups to extract platform revenue sharing.
To put an end to this chaos, X platform has linked economic rewards closely with the true reach of content. The specific rule adjustment states that creators' earnings will now depend solely on the number of impressions their content receives on the "verified user homepage timeline."
This also means that only content that successfully reaches real user feeds and generates genuine views can earn revenue. Any attempt to artificially inflate views outside the system through mechanical interactions will no longer receive system-based revenue sharing.
Although this adjustment has eliminated two major cheating incentives and effectively curbed systemic abuse, Nikita Bier also admitted that some channels spreading spam still need to be blocked, and related governance efforts will continue.
Overall, X platform has optimized and adjusted its creator revenue sharing mechanism, shifting the core incentive from "broad publishing + mechanical interactions" to encouraging genuine user engagement and high-quality content production, guiding the platform ecosystem toward high-quality development.
