Why do altcoins always have no movement? Many blame it on "lack of funds and liquidity." But they often only see the surface.

Over the years in the crypto world, I’ve noticed a deeper change — investors have shifted from the frenzy of the past to being much more rational and cautious. The era where a story could easily pump a coin is gone for good.

The root cause of the problem actually lies in two aspects.

**Firstly, most small coins lack genuine innovation.** In 2017 and 2021, as long as you could tell a story and promote concepts, you could rally the market. Now? Without real application value and technical support, just "narrative" won’t last long. The market has become smarter; who would still buy into castles in the air so easily?

**Secondly, the valuation system has been completely distorted.** Since 2021, inflated valuations during VC funding rounds have directly reflected in the secondary market. Projects often trade at tens of billions of dollars in market cap, and retail investors entering are the last to catch the falling knife. Such a bubble structure can’t withstand any turbulence.

The logic of funds is changing. The top 10% of quality projects attract 90% of the capital, leaving the rest of the small coins to gather dust in the corner. Project teams have also changed their strategies — they know that a sudden pump can lead to a crash, making it easy to get trapped. That’s why many altcoins plummet after launch.

Want to make money playing altcoins in this environment? You need a new approach. Don’t rely on long-term holding; look for short-term breakout opportunities, take profits quickly, and walk away. When the next loose cycle arrives, competition will be fiercer, and reckless buying will only lead to losses.

Honestly, treat air coins as gambling — don’t get caught up in it. It’s no longer the era of blindly buying and waiting for a rise. Only those who adapt to the new rules won’t get caught in the trap.

Haha, you're right. Back in 2021, any random story could make it big. Now the market is much smarter, and just bragging isn't enough.

So true. I was also one of the caught-in-the-weed during the 21st wave. Looking at these projects now, it's clear that they are more story than substance.

To be honest, the stagnant state of altcoins is due to damn inflation, and inflated valuations from fundraising have ruined the entire ecosystem.

Oh no, it's the same old story. Back then, a white paper could skyrocket tenfold, but now, you really need something substantial.

In the early days, you could get away with just telling stories and making random moves. Now, that approach really doesn't work... It's outrageous that retail investors are still taking the bait.

That's right, I also followed the trend and bought in during the 2021 wave. Thinking back now, it still gives me a heart attack. The current altcoins are truly a game of life and death; without practical applications, they're just paper money.

Ah... you're so right. I was the one who blindly bought during the 2017 wave and ended up liquidated. Now, looking at altcoins, there's really not much motivation anymore.

You are absolutely right. The wave in 2021 was really the time when IQ tax harvesting was the most intense. If you're still blindly going all-in on altcoins now, you really should reflect on yourself.

To be honest, the wave of retail investors in 2021 really got taken advantage of quite harshly... Anyone still daring to go all-in on altcoins now is probably a bit carried away.

The era of buying with your eyes closed is truly over. Now it's all about VC overvaluation and the game of being the sucker who takes over.
