India supports a targeted energy strategy focused on national needs
India’s official representatives have reaffirmed the country’s unwavering stance on energy resource procurement. According to RTHK, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Jai Swali confirmed that India’s energy policy is developed solely with its own interests in mind. Depending on commercial viability, India is open to exploring oil purchases from various sources, including Venezuela.
Official Position on Energy Resource Procurement
As reported by Xinhua, citing Indian media, high-ranking diplomat Harsh Vardhan Shringla recently detailed India’s position in the energy sector. When asked by journalists, he assured that the country’s energy security is built on three principles: ensuring sufficient supply, rational pricing, and stable replenishment sources. This approach reflects the nation’s desire for independence in energy matters.
Expanding Oil Supply Sources
India is consistently developing a strategy of diversification to minimize risks associated with dependence on a single supplier. The country considers various procurement options, taking into account not only geopolitical factors but also the economic efficiency of each deal. This pragmatic approach provides India with greater flexibility in shaping its long-term energy security.
