Carbon fiber concept surges strongly, Zhongfu Shenying rises 20% limit up, Jilin Carbon Valley and others surge
The concept of carbon fiber experienced a strong surge during the trading session on the 12th. As of the latest report, Zhongfu Shenying hit the 20% daily limit, Jilin Carbon Valley rose over 14%, Jilin Chemical Fiber hit the daily limit, Montai High-tech increased over 9%, and Guangwei Refractory Materials and others rose more than 8%.
On the news front, on March 11th, China’s independently developed T1200-grade ultra-high-strength carbon fiber was officially launched globally for the first time. This is currently the highest strength industrialized mass-produced carbon fiber in the world. China has also become the first country to achieve mass production of this grade of carbon fiber at the hundred-ton level.
The head of R&D for T1200-grade carbon fiber at Zhongfu Shenying stated that this ultra-high-strength carbon fiber has a tensile strength increased by over 14% compared to the previous T1100 grade. Thanks to its ultra-lightweight and high-strength characteristics, T1200-grade carbon fiber can enable equipment in related fields to reduce weight by more than 10%. It has broad application prospects in strategic emerging industries such as commercial aerospace, low-altitude economy, and humanoid robots.
It is reported that in the aerospace field, the demand for carbon fiber is clearly increasing as the commercial space industry accelerates in scale. It is estimated that reducing the weight of a satellite by 1kg can indirectly reduce the launch system’s fuel by 500kg and save about $20,000 in launch costs. High-performance carbon fiber, with its excellent physical properties, is expected to become the mainstream structural material for spacecraft.
CICC Securities pointed out that the current commercial space industry is in a critical period of transitioning from technical validation to large-scale deployment. As a key material base for achieving lightweight and performance enhancement, carbon fiber and composites will benefit deeply from the expanding market space and the advancement of domestic production. It is recommended to focus on leading companies in high-performance carbon fiber.
