Anthropic quietly released a masterclass on prompt engineering.

after implementing these tips.. my Claude responses went from 6.5/10 to 9.5/10 overnight.
if you use Claude regularly, steal this prompting blueprint:
> step 1: task context
define the role and overall task upfront. don't just say "write me an email".. say "you are a senior marketing strategist. write a cold outreach email for a B2B SaaS product targeting CFOs."
the more specific the role, the better the output. every time.
> step 2: tone context
set the communication style explicitly. professional, casual, technical, friendly, provocative.. Claude adapts instantly but only if you tell it to.
> step 3: background data
attach relevant files or paste supporting context. Claude can't read your mind.. but it can read your documents. feed it everything.
> step 4: detailed task description & rules
expand on constraints and expectations. "keep it under 200 words. no jargon. use active voice. include one specific example." rules = guardrails = better output.
> step 5: examples
provide output samples using example tags. showing Claude what "good" looks like is 10x more effective than describing it.
> step 6: conversation history
reference prior chats for continuity. Claude doesn't remember past conversations by default.. give it the context it needs.
> step 7: immediate task description
state the specific action required RIGHT NOW using clear verbs. "write," "analyze," "compare," "list".. not "help me think about."
> step 8: deep thinking
trigger reasoning with phrases like "think deeply" or "think step by step." this alone upgrades output quality significantly.
> step 9: output formatting
specify bullets, tables, prose, or structured layouts. don't let Claude guess what format you want.. tell it.
> step 10: prefilled response
seed the beginning of the AI reply. start with "here's my analysis:" and Claude continues from there instead of adding unnecessary preamble.

most people type one lazy sentence into Claude and blame the AI when the output is mid.
the AI is only as good as your prompt. this framework proves it.
save this. your future self will thank you.
