Just found out my dog can actually have oranges and honestly it's kind of a game changer for summer snacks. Apparently if you're wondering can we give orange to dogs, the answer is yes but there's definitely a right way to do it. So basically you peel it, remove all the seeds, and give them just a slice or two max—like one to three pieces per day tops. More than that and they'll probably get an upset stomach or worse. The thing is, oranges have all these good nutrients like vitamin C, fiber, calcium and potassium that are actually beneficial for them. But here's the catch: most dog foods already have everything they need, so oranges should really just be an occasional treat, not a regular thing. One vet I read about mentioned that puppies need to be introduced to oranges super slowly since their digestive systems are more sensitive than adult dogs. And definitely avoid the peel and seeds because apparently there can be harmful toxins in there that mess with their digestion. Also if your dog has diabetes, skip the oranges entirely since they're pretty high in sugar. I've been giving mine the occasional slice on hot days since they're like 90% water, which is actually perfect for keeping them hydrated. Seems way better than some of the processed treats out there. There are other fruits that work too—bananas, blueberries, watermelon—but oranges are definitely one of the easiest options if you've already got them at home. Just make sure you check with your vet first if your dog has any health stuff going on, especially before you introduce anything new to their diet.
