How to solve the intractable diseases in Ledger practice?

In view of the fact that I have to fight 300 rounds with Ledger every week (bugs every week make me waste 1-2 hours steadily), I decided to open a thread about the intractable diseases that Ledger Live cannot link to Metamask, and I will help you summarize some problems encountered when using Ledger Intractable diseases and solutions (serious solution + metaphysical solution).

First of all, be wary of all the comments in this Thread, many twitter bots will pretend to be customer service to contact you, they are all liars. One of Ledger or Metamask counts as one, and the customer service is very cold, it is impossible to leave you a private message.

The first is the hardware level. The data cable it uses is an Android data cable, but it picks up the cable, and sometimes there is no response when it is connected, which may be due to poor contact or the version is too old. So try to use the original one, but the original one seems to be of average quality, so if you don’t have the original one, go online to buy the latest Android data cable (don’t buy the old one).

Next is the software level. Ledger Live and Metamask must use the latest version and keep updating; PS: A metaphysical suggestion, try not to use the built-in software for Ledger Live update, go to its official website to download. I had a bug once before, and I couldn’t connect with the software’s built-in update. I was so anxious that I got a headache. Later, a brother on Reddit said that I had to go to the official website to download it. I did so and it worked.

Software Level 2

After a certain version, Metamask has been changed to use “webHID” instead of “Ledger Live”. Note: I didn’t write it backwards, isn’t this funny? I want to connect to Ledger Live but can’t select Ledger Live. I don’t know how many people have been misled. Solution: In Metamask settings - advanced - first Ledger link method.

Software level 2.5

The most pitiful thing is that after using webHID, Ledger will not automatically skip transactions. At this time, you need to open the “ethereum” program in the Ledger hardware. Other EVM chains must use this ethereum, including polygon, L2, etc., otherwise the transaction will not be triggered.

Software Level 3

Sometimes friends in the mainland use Ledger to use some scientific Internet services. Note that ordinary scientific Internet access is not acceptable. You must use “TUN mode”. If you don’t know what mode this is or your scientific Internet software does not support it, please go to Google.

Hardware and software level 1- Blind signing

The “blind signature” in Ledger must be enabled (enabled), otherwise the transaction will not be triggered. This is in the “ethereum-setting” of the hardware.

Hardware and software level 2

For some complex smart contract operations, you need to enable the debug mode. For example, go to the launchpad of the ethereum official website to make a staking pledge. Sorry, blind signing is not enough, so you must enable the debug mode. The price is that you will get cramps when you press the button, and you have to authorize more than a dozen times.

If none of the above solutions can solve the problem, then try metaphysics, such as changing a USB socket, changing the node scientifically, restarting the computer, re-downloading Ledger Live, changing a computer, or trying the next day, etc. If it doesn’t work, I can only write emails to Ledger, but according to my experience, their replies are all clichés, which are of limited use.
