#PNUT BETCH The Internet celebrity squirrel was detained and executed to cause controversy:
The popularity of MEME coin Pnut is closely related to the controversy over the detention and death of the internet celebrity squirrel 'Peanut'.
More than seven years ago, mechanical engineer Mark Longo witnessed the unfortunate death of a mother squirrel in a car accident by chance. Out of compassion, he brought the lonely squirrel back home and gave it a warm name, 'Peanut'. During the care process, Mark Longo shared countless interesting interaction videos between Peanut and himself on his social media account, quickly attracting hundreds of thousands of followers. Peanut has also become an animal internet celebrity.
According to Mark Longo, as his love for animals deepened, he wholeheartedly devoted himself to the wildlife conservation cause last year, founding a non-profit animal sanctuary "P'Nuts Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary", which currently houses over 300 animals, including horses, goats, and alpacas.
However, a sudden storm disrupted the peaceful life of Mark Longo and Peanut. According to the Associated Press, on October 30, officials from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) broke into Mark Longo's home without a search warrant and arrested Peanut. "The treatment I received was as if I were a drug dealer, and the officials' actions were like looking for drugs and firearms," Mark Longo revealed. The environmental agency received multiple complaints from the public claiming that peanuts are wild animals and are concerned that they may transmit diseases such as rabies.
To this end, Mark Longo had to launch a petition on social media, which quickly received active responses and signatures from tens of thousands of fans. However, the development of the situation did not go as everyone had hoped. Mark Longo subsequently announced with great sadness that Peanut had been euthanized by the relevant authorities for being deemed an 'illegally kept wild animal'. DEC stated that after Peanut bit the personnel involved in the investigation, this squirrel and another raccoon named Fred were euthanized for rabies testing.
This news instantly caused a huge uproar on the entire Internet, and countless netizens expressed strong dissatisfaction and anger about it. DEC also got caught in the whirlpool of public opinion.
The way New York City treated the squirrel Peanut is as cruel as the way they treated Harambe, the gorilla shot by an American zoo to save a boy, according to the Dogecoin project's tweet. Musk also joined the mourning, tweeting multiple times in support of Peanut and Mark Longo. 'The government should not be allowed to break into your home and kill your pet! This is terrible. Even if keeping a squirrel as a pet is illegal (which it shouldn't be), why kill Peanut instead of releasing it back into the forest?' 'The government is a merciless killing machine, Trump will save the squirrel, rest in peace, Peanut.' Meanwhile, the satirical US news site Babylon Bee joked that 'MAGA-hat-wearing radical squirrels begin uprising.'
Now Mark Longo has adopted a second squirrel named BETCH. Will it be able to live a happy life? Please follow the MEME project $BETCH $3M.
