The Canton Coin (CC) ecosystem just took a huge leap forward today with its listing on major exchanges! This is a critical milestone for price discovery and unlocking new paths for composability.
To support this growth and ensure institutional-grade transparency, we are thrilled to announce that Kaiko is introducing an IOSCO-compliant CC-USD Reference Rate!
This benchmark for $CC is set to elevate the entire network:
💡 Higher $CC Price Formation Transparency
The new Kaiko Reference Rate (RFR), which is IOSCO-compliant, provides a clear, reliable market price (secondary market) for $CC. This RFR can be directly compared with the Amulet price, the network's primary price used in $CC’s Burn-Mint Equilibrium (BME) tokenomics. While RFR price formation is ruled by the market, the Amulet price is voted on by Super Validators (SVs), the network administrators.
The @CantonNetwork is constantly evolving. In a significant step, CIP-0092 has officially been passed! This crucial governance proposal mandates that Super Validators now have 10 days to transition their price voting mechanism to integrate market pricing. This improvement aims at avoiding a dislocation of CC-USD. SVs will either derive their own from market data or choose to rely on an external reference like the new Kaiko $CC Reference Rate.
Kiko's interface, which already supports CIP-0079 and will support CIP-0092 offers full visibility into the overall price formation across both the primary and secondary markets.

🌐 Product Development & Institutional Readiness
The Kaiko Reference Rate is a foundational component for the next wave of institutional products: new financial instruments, including ETPs (Exchange-Traded Products), listed derivatives such as perpetual futures contracts, and regulated OTC trading, can now confidently refer to a compliant and transparent benchmark.
By combining decentralized verifiability with regulated data standards, Kaiko helps ensure that pricing on the Canton Network remains transparent, reliable, and globally consistent as markets evolve.
