As reported by ZDNet on October 12, Firefox is building in Fakespot, an artificial intelligence fake review detector. Firefox says the new feature is currently in beta and should be widely available in November. Initially, it will be available on Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, and more websites will roll out this feature over time. In May, Mozilla acquired Fakespot, a company that specializes in detecting fake online reviews. The Fakespot browser extension runs on Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Yelp, and TripAdvisor and rates each product an A to F scale. A grade means that all reviews are reliable, and B means that most reviews are reliable. A grade of C indicates both, and a grade of D and F indicates that the review is unreliable overall.
