Sony has officially submitted an application for a national bank charter in the United States to engage in encryption business.

On October 16, according to Decrypt, Sony Group's banking division has officially submitted an application for a national bank charter in the United States, planning to conduct "specific cryptocurrency-related business" through its subsidiary Connectia Trust. According to the application documents, the trust company will issue a USD stablecoin, manage corresponding reserve assets, and provide digital asset custody and asset management services.
