On November 11, the ZK Nation community released a proposal to “upgrade the ZK token contract and introduce a permissionless burning feature,” with voting set to begin on November 13. The proposal includes a suggestion to upgrade the ZK token contract to ZKTokenV3, which is a minimal extension based on ZKTokenV2. New features include: public burning (any token holder can permanently burn their own tokens); addresses holding BURNER_ROLE can burn tokens from specified accounts; allowing any program to read the max supply of 2.1 billion ZK in the contract, with the enforcement of this cap during new token minting. This upgrade lays the foundation for the vision of ZKnomics, achieving supply management through programmable token burning.
