Ripple is taking another step toward expanding its presence in Europe. Luxembourg’s Minister of Finance, Gilles Roth, said he met with Ripple as the company works to secure a license to operate in the country.

Roth shared the update on X, saying he had a “great meeting” with Ripple. He added that they discussed Ripple’s plans for Europe and Luxembourg, and that he reaffirmed the country’s commitment to digital innovation.

Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, Stuart Alderoty, also confirmed the meeting. In his post, he thanked Roth and his team, saying, “The EU led in creating clear rules for digital assets, and countries like Luxembourg are leaning in. Ripple is excited about our future in Luxembourg and the EU.”

Luxembourg has been one of the most open European countries when it comes to fintech and blockchain. It is already home to several regulated crypto and payment firms. Ripple’s move fits into its wider plan to strengthen operations across the European Union under the new MiCA regulatory framework.

Getting a license in Luxembourg could help Ripple expand its payment and liquidity services in Europe. The company already holds licenses in Ireland and has been growing its partnerships with banks and payment providers across the continent.

For Ripple, Luxembourg’s supportive stance toward digital finance makes it an attractive base for European growth. The meeting shows both sides share a similar goal – bringing innovation and regulation together to shape the future of finance in the region.
