Eliminating the anomalies from the previous week, the number of initial unemployment claims in the United States has seen the largest decline in nearly four years.

On September 18, data released by the U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday showed that the number of initial jobless claims for the week ending September 13 fell by 33,000 to 231,000. This marks the largest decline in initial jobless claims in nearly four years, reversing the previous week’s unusual surge and aligning with the low level of layoffs in the economy. A Bloomberg survey of economists revealed that the median forecast was for 240,000 claims. The number of continuing claims fell to 1.92 million the previous week. (智通财经)
