On October 24, according to The New York Times, Trump has granted a pardon to CEX founder CZ, which is likely to pave the way for CEX to return to the United States. The company admitted to violating U.S. AML regulations in 2023 and was banned from operating in the U.S., while the U.S. Department of Justice's three-year compliance oversight of CEX may also come to an early end. The compliance oversight is intended to ensure the company adheres to U.S. financial crime laws; however, without additional approval from Trump or the Treasury Secretary, the pardon may not terminate the independent oversight established by the Treasury. Additionally, sources revealed that lobbyist Ches McDowell played a significant role in assisting with CZ's pardon.
