The High Court of Karnataka, India, has ordered the blocking of the Proton Mail domain.
According to Gate.io News bot, Cointelegraph reports that the Karnataka High Court in India has issued a directive to the government to block the relevant domain names of the encryption email service Proton Mail under the Information Technology Act of 2008.
The blockade stems from a complaint filed in January by a design company in New Delhi. The company claims that its employees received offensive emails via Proton Mail, and Proton Mail refused to provide the sender's information to the authorities.
In March 2024, the Proton team disclosed that Indian authorities proposed to block the service due to a "prank bomb threat," but it was not implemented at that time. Currently, the court has made a decision to block it, and relevant measures are pending execution.
