The High Court of Karnataka, India, has ordered the blocking of the Proton Mail domain.

According to the Gate.io News bot, Cointelegraph reported that the Karnataka High Court in India has issued an order to the government to block the relevant domain names of the encryption email service Proton Mail under the IT Act of 2008.

The blockade stems from a complaint filed in January by a design company in New Delhi. The company claims that its employees received offensive emails via Proton Mail, and Proton Mail refused to provide the authorities with the sender's information.

In March 2024, the Proton team revealed that Indian authorities proposed to block the service due to "prank bomb threats," but it was not implemented at that time. Currently, the court has made a blocking decision, and related measures are pending execution.
