BlockBeats News: On August 13, an Australia man was sentenced to three years in prison for his partner who accidentally received a multimillion-dollar refund from Crypto com and spent it privately. In May 2021, Crypto com sent Australia couple Thevamanogari Manivel and Jatinder Singh US$6.86 million (A$10.47 million) instead of US$100 in refunds after an employee allegedly entered an account number in the payments section of an Excel spreadsheet. However, the trading platform detected that the bank account did not match the exchangeaccount. As a result, the trading platform issued a refund, but instead of refunding the $100 that the couple were trying to deposit, the trading platform mistakenly remitted $10.5 million to Manyvale's bank account. Singh then used the money to spend heavily. At sentencing, Judge Martin · Marić called Singh's actions "at least reckless," adding that his actions were "triggered by extremely exceptional circumstances."
