It's not just a nesting game. Restaking+AVS is the complete form of Eigenlayer.

EigenLayer unlocks transfers tomorrow, and is expected to be listed on top exchanges. Some miscellaneous thoughts about EigenLayer, taking this opportunity to vent:

Restaking has always been criticized as a Russian nesting game of equity Tokens. This criticism overlooks the strong positive externality of Restaking: EigenLayer, along with Etherfi, Puffer, Renzo, KelpDAO, Swell, and other satellite protocols, joined forces to break the absolute monopoly of Lido in the LST market, reducing Lido's market share from threatening ~33% of ETH consensus security to the current ~28%, thus maintaining the Decentralization and security of ETH Mainnet.

Restaking+AVS is the complete form of Eigenlayer. Currently, there are 19 projects using AVS of EigenLayer, except for OmniNetwork, Cyber MACH, AltLayer MACH, DODOchain MACH, and ARPA Network, the rest of the Tokens are not TGE.

Star projects in projects that have not yet launched coins: official son DA project EigenDA, Cross-Chain Interactionprotocol Hyperlane, Oracle Machine project eoracle, Depin project Witness Chain, ZK co-processor project Lagrange.

After Vitalik confirmed the roadmap of Rollup Centric on behalf of the Ethereum community, the Infra infrastructure of the ReStaking+AVS paradigm, which to some extent competes, has entered a confused stage. The next step may be to integrate and develop with the Rollup paradigm, providing services as a vassal for Rollup, such as DA, shared sequencer, high-security Oracle Machine, unified cross-domain Liquidity, ZK coprocessor, etc.

Given the current adoption of AVS, the Consensus overload issue that the Ethereum community is concerned about seems less urgent than the exponential rise in the Restaking track before May this year.

Consensus overload refers to the possibility of validators taking on too much responsibility, beyond their original role on the ETH mainnet. This may lead to:

  • Validators' resource decentralization: Validators may allocate their computing resources and attention to multiple tasks, which may affect their performance on the Mainnet.
  • Complexification of incentive mechanisms: Participating in multiple protocols may lead to the complexification of incentive mechanisms, potentially affecting the behavior of validators.
  • Security Considerations: If a large number of validators participate in EigenLayer, it may affect the overall security of the Ethereum Mainnet.
