As a student about to graduate from HKU, I am gradually stepping into the world of Crypto Assets. This field has sparked many thoughts in me, and what intrigues me the most is whether the total market capitalization of Virtual Money could surpass that of gold?
My understanding of Web3 has gone through a gradual process. My initial exposure was through my roommate's sister, who was working in Web3-related fields in Hong Kong. At that time, the concept was still quite vague to me. Later, during my junior year, discussions with friends studying financial technology gave me a preliminary understanding of blockchain technology and decentralized protocols. However, what I am truly concerned about is its investment potential.
Nowadays, under the guidance of the team, I have begun to gain a deep understanding of the development history of Crypto Assets, the operating mechanisms of Web3, and the mining process, which has made me realize their tremendous investment value.
The rise of Web3 originates from a collective vision. It has gradually formed consensus from what seemed like an ethereal concept, expanded its influence, and even changed the global perception of currency and trust. The value of Bitcoin has grown from initially negligible to now $110,000, emerging as 'digital gold.' Its core value lies in its scarcity.
Currently, the total market capitalization of the Virtual Money market is approximately $3.9 trillion, while the total market capitalization of physical gold worldwide exceeds $20 trillion. Will this gap eventually be closed? This question is worth pondering.
My daily life presents an interesting contrast: I study the latest Crypto Assets trends in the morning, and then return to the lab to conduct titration experiments on respiration in the afternoon. This contrast is a microcosm of my life: the intersection of finance and science, the fusion of Virtual Money and reality. As I navigate through these two vastly different fields, I am gradually finding my rhythm and positioning.
