According to sources, SWIFT is currently collaborating with several top financial institutions worldwide, including BNP Paribas and the New York Bank, to jointly test a blockchain-based on-chain messaging system. More than ten financial institutions are already actively participating in this innovative project. An insider from one of the participating banks revealed: "This project is expected to take several months to complete, but it is likely to become a milestone technological transformation in the field of international bank payments."

Why did SWIFT ultimately choose Linea? This Ethereum Layer 2 solution developed by @Consensys excels in data confidentiality thanks to its advanced cryptographic proof mechanism. This feature is particularly important for banking institutions looking to strike a balance between technological innovation and regulatory compliance.

The SWIFT system currently serves as a payment instruction transmission network connecting more than 11,000 financial institutions worldwide. Although it guarantees security, it still faces issues such as cumbersome operations, reliance on multiple intermediaries, and high centralization. The introduction of Blockchain technology could very likely become a key factor in fundamentally changing this landscape.
