Grayscale enters the ETH game with covered options!
I just found out that Grayscale has launched its new Ethereum Covered Call ETF, with the code ETCO. And wow, it seems they want to take advantage of the roller coaster that is the price of ETH lately.
This seems to me like another play by the big players to take advantage of volatility. Does it really benefit the average investor? I have my doubts... These sophisticated products are often traps for those of us who do not fully understand the options market.
The timing is interesting. Just when ETH is at 4,006.74 with a drop of 0.06%. It's no coincidence that they launch these products when the market is moving sideways - they need to attract investors with promises of profits in any scenario.
I have seen that ETH has fallen below 4,000 USDT with a miserable increase of 0.22% in 24 hours. And now they're coming to me with covered options? Pfff... As if they could predict where the market will go!
I am concerned that so many small investors are falling into these products without understanding the risks. The spot ETH ETFs are already seeing outflows while the Bitcoin ones are gaining ground. Coincidence? I doubt it.
Meanwhile, we have news that SharpLink reports $500 million in unrealized gains from its Ethereum strategy. Does anyone else think this smells fishy?
Among us, I think we should be more attentive to significant liquidations that could be triggered by the price movements of Ethereum. That is what can really affect us, not these complex financial products for the "smart".
