PumpFun Restarts Live Streaming Feature, New Opportunities Arise in the Web3 Live Streaming Track

PumpFun, as the largest token launch platform in the crypto space, has recently reactivated its live streaming feature, which will undoubtedly bring new development opportunities to the Web3 live streaming sector.

PumpFun combined token issuance and trading with live streaming for the first time in November 2024, generating significant buzz. However, due to insufficient content risk control and compliance capabilities, this feature was forced to be taken offline. This attempt allowed the industry to glimpse the potential and imaginative space of Web3 live streaming for the first time.

In the nearly one year since PumpFun suspended its live streaming feature, Sidekick has rapidly emerged, completing its ecological cold start and token issuance. The restart of the live streaming feature by PumpFun is not only unlikely to pose a threat to Sidekick but may actually expand the market size of the entire sector.

PumpFun and Sidekick adopt differentiated competition strategies. PumpFun uses live streaming as a catalyst for token issuance, with content leaning more towards emotion and sensationalism. In contrast, Sidekick views live streaming as a medium for various types of content, offering a richer variety of content types, including investment research, blockchain games, online tutorials, and more.

From the evolution path of content platforms, text, images, videos, and live broadcasts are an inevitable development trend. The Web3 industry, due to its uniqueness, requires a live broadcasting platform that meets its characteristics. Traditional live broadcasting platforms have high compliance requirements for the cryptocurrency sector, and their monetization methods do not align with the characteristics of the cryptocurrency space.

Although users in the cryptocurrency space are currently mainly gathered on social media platforms focused on images and text, there is still a need for a video-type platform as the next gathering place. The Web3 live streaming sector has enough room to accommodate different types of platforms.

PumpFun's live streaming service is primarily aimed at token issuance, similar to the e-commerce live streaming model. In contrast, Sidekick focuses more on content services, providing diversified monetization avenues such as knowledge payment and tips. This differentiated strategy allows the two platforms to coexist and develop in the same arena.
