New non-custodial payment account: on-chain deposit USDC for direct Visa card spending.

I saw something quite interesting in the crypto world - a team has created a non-custodial spending account called Tangem Pay, which is directly integrated into their own Wallet.

The core gameplay is as follows: your USDC just lies on the chain, and when you want to spend it, you can take out a virtual Visa card and swipe it. The private key is always held in your own hands and does not need to be given out. In other words, you can manage your money yourself while enjoying the convenience of spending like swiping a bank card.

They started pushing this month, and the goal is pretty ambitious - to reach ten million active users by the end of next year. The product design focuses on effortless operation, featuring some NFC hardware like rings and cards, allowing transactions to be completed with just a tap, without needing to remember any mnemonics or stare at a complicated interface for a long time.

It feels like this idea is indeed moving towards “allowing ordinary people to use cryptocurrency,” but it depends on whether the actual experience can keep up.

Wow, this NFC card can make transactions just by touching? It feels a bit sketchy, how is the security guaranteed... --- Wait, ten million active users? This goal seems too dreamy, haha --- Managing the Private Key yourself while being able to swipe and spend, this gameplay is indeed novel, but I wonder what the real experience is like --- Here comes another "user-friendly" product, just listening is enough, I've seen too many broken promises --- NFC hardware paired with USDC, this combination is interesting, but the fees must not be cheap --- If it can be used with Visa integrated into its own Wallet, doesn't that still rely on the exchange or third parties? --- It feels much more convenient than a Cold Wallet, if it can really allow painless use of encryption, that would be amazing --- Starting to promote it a month ahead, but it hasn't launched yet, don't hype it too early.

ngl the NFC hardware angle is where the real transmutation happens... self-custody meets frictionless spending? that's the philosopher's stone we've been waiting for tbh

nfc tap-to-pay on-chain sounds good until you realize the attack surface for card interception... tbh though, if it actually reduces friction without compromising self-custody, that's the asymmetric return we've been waiting for

ngl the NFC tap-to-pay angle is clever but... we all know how this ends right? one firmware bug and suddenly your ring's broadcasting your private state like it's chatting on a public channel. seen this movie before, except last time it cost someone 2.3M in stables lmao
