Ethereum co-founder recently stated that 2026 will be a turning point for the blockchain to refocus on its core values. After more than a decade of evolution, Ethereum plans to strengthen its self-sovereignty and trustless features through a series of technical upgrades.

The specific roadmap includes several directions: first, simplifying node deployment by leveraging advanced technologies like ZK-EVM and BAL to lower operational barriers; second, advancing privacy protection through Helios verification, ORAM, and PIR systems to effectively safeguard user data; third, enhancing fund security with social recovery wallets and time lock mechanisms to provide additional protection; at the same time, improving on-chain interaction experiences, with deep integration with IPFS to make application deployment more autonomous.

The developer emphasized that returning to the original decentralization ethos is a long-term process, but these improvements will fundamentally eliminate past compromises in node operation, application architecture, and data privacy, ultimately shaping a more resilient ecosystem.

The irony is that things that should have been done over a decade ago are only now being discussed. 2026? Why not 2030? Such promises are even less likely to be called out. Historical lesson: every time they say they will return to the original intention, but in the end, they just keep compromising. Data shows that the implementation rate of such grand visions has never exceeded 40%. Feel free to verify. First solve the current congestion problem before bragging. Interestingly, the more they talk, the more it shows how absurd the initial design was. Objectively speaking, this is just covering up for past design flaws. No matter how high the promises are stacked, they can't change the reality of centralization.
