On January 24, the Ethereum Foundation elevated post-quantum security to the highest strategic priority. EF announced the formation of a dedicated Post-Quantum team, led by Thomas Coratger, with support from leanVM cryptologist Emile. Researcher Justin Drake stated that Ethereum is transitioning from a long-term backend research phase to active engineering implementation, including launching bi-weekly post-quantum developer meetings and running multi-client post-quantum consensus testnets.

EF is also increasing funding and community engagement, planning to launch two cryptography awards each worth $1 million, and hosting multiple community events and educational programs related to post-quantum security in 2026.
