(MENAFN) A group of at least 12 American F-22 fighter jets touched down at an Israeli air base on Tuesday, according to reports, as friction between Washington and Tehran continues to intensify.
Israel’s public broadcaster stated: “Twelve US F-22 fighter jets landed this afternoon at one of the Israeli Air Force bases in the south of the country, as part of the American deployment in the Middle East,” an Israeli broadcaster said.
The report noted that the F-22 aircraft rank among the most sophisticated combat jets globally and are operated exclusively by the United States. They are designed for high-level missions, including “penetrating enemy territory and disabling air defense systems and radar installations.”
The deployment comes as the United States strengthens its military footprint in the Persian Gulf region, amid warnings from President Donald Trump that military action against Iran remains a possibility if ongoing nuclear talks collapse, according to reports.
