Pudgy SBT Release: Social media buzz, on-chain silence, price decline
Still lively, but nothing has really changed
Pudgy Penguins has launched SBT on Jupiter Mobile, positioned as a community loyalty tool, not for pump-and-dump. The surface data looks good: over 190,000 views, many big accounts sharing. But the issue is: everywhere on Twitter there are expectations of airdrops and participation guides, yet on-chain activity and prices hardly react.
The community is discussing whether “the historical swap starting September 2025 + the new swap before March 20” counts as qualification, and how to claim via Jupiter App’s built-in browser. Some call it “Moonbirds 2.0.” But the claim of “guaranteed airdrop” has no basis—Pudgy’s previous SBTs (like truePengu) had unstable reward distributions, and the team never made any promises. Influencers’ guides are quite positive, but Jupiter’s trading volume hasn’t increased, and PENGU holder addresses remain unchanged.
What really matters
Don’t be fooled by 969 likes. What’s more worth watching is: even if metrics haven’t moved, Pudgy (top 5 in NFT mindshare, market cap around $431 million) is embedding itself into Solana’s user retention system. Jupiter’s TVL and user count remain stable, and mainstream media has hardly reported on it. Most community doubts about scams have been dismissed, but overall sentiment remains cautious.
If you’re looking for short-term gains, it’s already too late. Long-term holders might benefit from ecosystem lock-in; short-term traders are more likely to get caught in the “story that’s already cooled off.” Over 60% of supply is highly concentrated, with almost no rotation; whales haven’t entered, indicating the market’s valuation of retention logic still revolves around “airdrop expectations.”
The assumption that “viral spread = value” is invalid if on-chain data doesn’t support it. Past SBT events have already proven this.
Summary: Viral spread has driven narrative restructuring, but on-chain data and prices show expectations are ahead of reality. Builders have higher relative gains; traders chasing hype are already behind.
Bottom line: This SBT is more about laying the “retention” foundation for Pudgy on Solana, benefiting those who understand this and hold patiently. Traders chasing viral moments have missed the boat; narrative momentum is waning. The truly undervalued aspect is ecosystem lock-in, not airdrop expectations.
Conclusion: It’s already “late” for short-term traders; for long-term holders and ecosystem builders, it’s still “early.” The advantage lies with builders and patient long-term investors; speculative traders won’t benefit.
