Odaily Planet Daily reports that OpenAI announced the launch of an AI agent designed to help security teams discover and fix large database vulnerabilities, which could potentially reduce the demand for traditional cybersecurity companies. In a statement on Friday, OpenAI said this agent, called Codex Security, can identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and suggest solutions before fixing errors. The company stated that the tool is intended to operate at a large scale and provide “easy-to-accept patches,” allowing developers to focus on more advanced tasks. The company also revealed that the agent has been used to scan and identify security flaws in open-source code repositories. This product competes with Claude Code Security from Anthropic PBC, which also detects vulnerabilities and offers repair suggestions. Last month, the release of Claude’s new security tool caused cybersecurity stocks to decline, with Crowdstrike and Cloudflare both dropping 8%.
