Netflix Acquires AI Film and TV Production Company
On March 6, Netflix announced the acquisition of InterPositive, a film and TV production technology company founded by Hollywood actor Ben Affleck. InterPositive primarily develops AI tools for filmmaking. Through this acquisition, Netflix plans to integrate the entire InterPositive team into Netflix, with Affleck joining as a senior advisor. Ben Affleck’s self-directed and starred film “Argo” won the Best Picture Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards. He stated that he decided to establish InterPositive in 2022 after observing the rise of AI in film and TV production, and the company has already launched a model capable of understanding visual and editing logic.
Alibaba Denies Collective Departure of Large Model Team
On the evening of March 5, Alibaba responded to recent false reports circulating online claiming that the core team of Alibaba’s “Qianwen” model had collectively left and that there were adjustments to open-source strategies. Alibaba stated that the Qianwen model team is stable, with no signs of collective departure, and all products and services are operating normally. Additionally, Alibaba will continue its open-source strategy. The core model team has never been assigned commercial KPIs such as DAU. The goal of the Qwen large model is to continuously push the limits of AI intelligence and achieve AGI (Artificial General Intelligence). On the early morning of March 4, Lin Junyang, head of Alibaba’s Qwen project, announced his departure on social platform X: “I am about to leave. Goodbye, my beloved Qwen.” At the same time, three technical team members of Qwen announced their departure, including the post-training lead Yu Bowen, intern Kaixin Li, and code model lead Hui Bin Yuan.
