The Two Sessions heat confirms the world's desire for "stability" and "governance"
Since the start of the National Two Sessions, international media attention has continued to rise. According to the Global Times Research Institute, foreign media coverage of the Two Sessions has increased significantly for two consecutive years. An intuitive detail that shows the popularity of the Two Sessions is: before the diplomatic-themed press conference, some reporters began waiting at 4 a.m., and two hours before the event, all 360 seats were filled, with media personnel sitting on the floor in the aisles. “At this very moment, the whole world is paying attention to China.” When China’s Two Sessions become a “world moment,” it indicates that the world is more eager than ever to listen to China’s voice.
Foreign media’s attention to the Two Sessions is undergoing a transformation from “spectator” to “researcher,” from “finding problems” to “seeking answers”: France’s Le Monde focuses on the core goal of “building China into a technological superpower”; Germany’s China Platform website notes that China sets cautious growth targets to transition to a “new prosperity model”; CNN describes China’s high-tech development strategy as “a plan to win the future”; Argentina’s La Gaceta states, “In a world of turmoil, China leads the future”… Media reports are becoming more positive and objective. This shift is no coincidence; it reflects the world’s mature understanding of “China’s governance,” “China’s stability,” and “China’s reasoning.”
Behind this change is the world’s desire for certainty. Currently, the international situation is highly turbulent, with regional conflicts escalating, energy markets fluctuating, and supply chains unstable, creating a sense of unease globally. China is the stabilizing anchor of regional security and a source of development and prosperity. As an important window into China’s policy direction, the Two Sessions thus hold global significance. A representative comment from a reporter at Brazil’s O Globo: “In the current turbulent international situation, I very much want to understand how China will continue to inject certainty into the world.” While some countries focus only on election cycles and policy swings with changes in government, China is firmly looking toward the “next five years” and even a longer-term future. This strategic foresight and policy predictability provide the world with greater security. As Maldivian Ambassador to China Fazeer said, “China’s steady and resolute approach inspires many countries, especially developing nations.”
A series of goals China aims to achieve during the 14th Five-Year Plan are essentially a global “opportunity list.” Media outlets like Reuters note that China will “cultivate and expand emerging industries and future industries,” with brain-computer interfaces and embodied intelligence as new growth points. A question from a reporter at Africa Youth Voice TV is very direct: “We want to understand China’s development plans and specific measures for the next five years; this is closely related to the world.” Through the Two Sessions, the world not only understands China’s development blueprint but also actively seeks new opportunities and possibilities to ride the “fast train” of China’s development.
China’s achievements and governance models provide the world with a new path toward modernization. The world has seen that 800 million people have been lifted out of poverty, infrastructure such as high-speed rail, water conservancy, and computing power networks have been built, and breakthroughs in frontier fields like chips and artificial intelligence continue to emerge. Through a consistent and unwavering approach, China is steadily turning beautiful visions into reality. During the 14th Five-Year Plan, China will continue to increase investments in employment, education, healthcare, and elderly care to meet people’s needs for a better life. The people-centered development philosophy reflects not only the original intention and pursuit of the Chinese ruling party but also is deeply rooted in China’s excellent traditional culture, prompting the world to reflect on governance essentials and the foundation of development.
China’s confident and open attitude makes the world more willing to listen. “Building a modern industrial system,” “developing a strong domestic market,” “expanding high-level opening-up”… While some countries build “small walls” and promote “decoupling and breaking chains,” China, with practical actions, opens its arms to the world. China’s continuous expansion of high-level opening-up means a smoother global industrial and supply chain, stronger global economic growth momentum, and more stable development of rule-based multilateral trade systems.
Do not fear the clouds hiding the eyes; even amid turbulent clouds passing by, China remains calm. As the world seeks direction amid upheaval and change, China injects valuable certainty and confidence into global governance with clear positions, pragmatic solutions, and stable expectations.
