US Confirms Tesla and LG Energy Solution Battery Factory Deal Worth $4.3 Billion

The U.S. Department of the Interior announced that Tesla and LG Energy Solution are expanding their partnership through a supply agreement to build a $4.3 billion lithium iron phosphate battery manufacturing plant in Lansing, Michigan, expected to start production in 2027.

Batteries manufactured at the U.S. plant will power Tesla’s Megapack 3 energy storage systems produced in Houston, creating a robust battery supply chain.

This is part of a $56 billion agreement reached at the Indo-Pacific Energy Security Summit during the Trump administration.
