When you see the word "takeoff," don't rush into FOMO. In crypto, every moment that feels like "about to take off" is often when long-short battles are most intense and liquidations are most likely to happen.
Whether this wave is a bull market primary rally or a "bull trap," these survival rules can help you preserve your capital and avoid getting shaken out:
1. Small position size, long survival
Never go all-in. Keep each position to 5%-10% of total capital. Even if liquidated, you still have a chance to come back.
2. Stop-loss is the bottom line—set it and don't change it
Always place a stop-loss when opening a position, and exit when hit. Don't manually lower the stop-loss or cancel it for "one more look." All major losses start with "let me hold a bit longer."
3. Don't be a stubborn long, and don't be a stubborn short
Add when direction is right, exit immediately when wrong. Don't fall in love with the market, don't argue with your position.
4. Calculate funding rates
When rates are too high, holding a long position is just sending money to others. Close when you should, don't fight fees and funding costs.
5. Don't chase bottoms, don't catch tops
What you think is the bottom has eighteen more layers below. Wait for the trend to form before entering. It's better to miss gains than bet on reversals.
6. Review daily, don't trade daily
Not every day has opportunities. When unclear or uncertain, sitting in cash is the best move.
7. Take profits and withdraw, don't keep rolling
When you make money, withdraw a portion. Don't always think "double it again"—the market specializes in punishing overconfidence.
One last thing:
Futures trading isn't about who makes money fastest, it's about who survives longest. You only deserve to talk about profits if you can survive a full bull-bear cycle.
