29-year-old man from Guangdong, Cheng Hailan, went missing alone while hiking in Taihang Mountain, and has been missing for 13 days.

Henan Wehui Zebra Rescue Team member Chai Shouyong told reporters that after receiving the distress call on the afternoon of March 14, nearly 170 rescue personnel from the Zebra Rescue Team and other rescue forces participated in the search. The last surveillance footage showed Cheng Hailan near Laolongkou Waterfall. Because the surveillance has a self-check mode, after nearly one minute of self-check, Cheng Hailan’s figure disappeared. Currently, divers and underwater robots are conducting underwater searches below Laolongkou Waterfall, but no clues have been found. The next step is to go up the mountain to search: “Rescue operations will be carried out simultaneously on the wild paths above, on the cliffs below, and with drones.”

Recently, a netizen posted that their 29-year-old brother, Cheng Hailan, went hiking in Nantaihang, Xinxiang, Zhengzhou, and has been missing for nearly a week.

Local rescue agencies confirmed the incident. On the morning of the 15th at 9 a.m., the rescue team had already gone up the mountain to search.

Cheng Hailan is 29 years old, from Maoming, Guangdong. He is 165 cm tall, with an average build, and has long hair reaching his neck. He usually wears black clothing and shoes, possibly Kailas gray-black sports shoes. He has an eyebrow piercing on his left eyebrow, wears earrings, has tattoos on his arms and calves, and often wears a black Apple Watch on his left wrist. The netizen who posted the message said that on March 9, Cheng Hailan flew from Guangzhou to Henan with plans to hike. He arrived at Xinxiang East Station in Henan on March 11. He was still sending messages at 10 a.m. that day, but lost contact after 11 a.m. The last phone location was around 1:40 p.m. that afternoon, near Yunfeng Temple and Dongba Viewing Platform between Guanshan and Bali Gully. Currently, his family has reported the case to the police and contacted the Xinxiang Hui County Zebra Emergency Rescue Center to issue a missing person notice.

On the morning of March 15, the rescue center informed that the rescue team received the distress call on the 14th, and by more than 8 a.m. on the 15th, over 40 people had been organized to go up the mountain for search and investigation, equipped with four drones. They are actively searching. Meanwhile, attempts to contact the netizen who posted the message have not yet been successful as of press time.

It is understood that Xinxiang Nantaihang has seven officially developed stunning hiking routes. There are also many unmarked wild trails summarized by hiking enthusiasts. These undeveloped routes are full of uncertainties and dangers but are popular for their pristine scenery and challenging nature.
