The State Administration for Market Regulation requires the three major food delivery platforms to promptly conduct self-inspections and rectifications.
Reporters have learned today that the State Administration for Market Regulation recently held an administrative guidance meeting for online food delivery platform companies in Beijing, guiding Meituan, Taobao Flash Purchase, and JD.com to strictly implement the upcoming “Regulations on the Supervision and Management of Food Safety Responsibilities of Online Catering Service Operators,” strengthen corporate food safety responsibilities, and take practical and effective measures to ensure consumer food safety. The meeting required that online food delivery platform companies must strictly comply with legal and regulatory requirements, compare each point with the “Regulations,” and comprehensively implement platform food safety responsibilities from five aspects: fulfilling qualification review responsibilities, management assurance responsibilities, social transparency responsibilities, emergency management responsibilities, and collaborative supervision responsibilities. The meeting emphasized that online food delivery platform companies should take June 1, when the “Regulations” are officially implemented, as a timeline, work backwards to plan, and thoroughly review existing systems, processes, staffing, technical support, and other links in accordance with the requirements of the “Regulations,” and carry out self-inspection and rectification as soon as possible; strictly control review, management, and delivery processes, strengthen technological empowerment management, actively integrate into government supervision systems, shift from “passive response” to “proactive engagement,” and promote new patterns of social co-governance of food safety through initiatives like “Internet + Bright Kitchen and Clear Stove” and encouraging food delivery riders to participate in food safety supervision.
